mtc system: Precise control of over-edge thread length

The BERNINA 1150 MDA features the patented mtc (micro thread control) system, permitting precise setting of the over-edge thread length via a simple control dial – thus guaranteeing you the perfect seam at the turn of a knob, for all materials and stitches. This micro thread control is responsible for the 1150 MDA’s accurate sewing results, which will wow you with their precision: ideal for ambitious sergers and commercial workshops alike.

Professional knife drive from above

The BERNINA 1150 MDA is designed to work with a wide range of materials. Thanks to its high cutting force, its knife drive can cope as accurately with heavy fabrics and thick fabric layers as with lightweight and delicate ones. Even denim, heavy linen fabrics and hand-knit projects won’t deflect the upper knife of the BERNINA 1150 MDA, so all fabric edges can be trimmed effortlessly and accurately – precise, highest-quality serging for a host of creative projects.

Handwheel position indicator

That the BERNINA 1150 MDA was developed down to the last detail for smooth, ergonomic operation can also be seen from its innovative handwheel position indicator. By consulting the vision panel during a thread change, you’ll be able to tell at a glance when the needles and lower looper are in the ideal position for threading. The BERNINA 1150 MDA saves you precious time by keeping the time needed for a thread change to a minimum.

Front Foot Lift for bulky projects

The Front Foot Lift lets you raise the tip of the presser foot of the BERNINA 1150 MDA, allowing you to position and guide bulky materials with far greater comfort. This means that the BERNINA 1150 MDA offers higher reliability and greater sewing ease when working with thick layers of fabric or hand-knits, since the fabric layers needn’t be squeezed together in order to fit under the presser foot – a 'plus' for smooth, easy serging, even with heavy materials.

Patented differential feed for ideal control of gathering

With the BERNINA 1150 MDA, puckered or wavy seams in knits are a thing of the past: a simple turn of the dial adjusts the patented BERNINA differential feed to the material in question. This clever feature allows you optimum control over the feed, effectively preventing unintentionally wavy, puckered seams. Should you wish to gather the seam, the gathering process is infinitely adjustable with a simple turn of a knob. This lets you use the 1150 MDA for impressive creative techniques, where you alone decide whether and how much to gather your seams.

Built-in threader for two needles

The BERNINA 1150 MDA’s built-in needle threader greatly simplifies the threading of both needles. This means that after a thread change, you can return to your sewing in no time flat – a convenient aid that enables smooth operation and noticeably shortens interruptions due to thread changes.

Elasticator foot and Blindstitch foot included as standard

The BERNINA 1150 MDA comes with an elasticator foot and a blindstitich foot as standard – the latter of which is used for sewing invisible blind hems. Particularly impressive is the fact that the elasticator doesn’t just guide the elastic while it is being serged in, but also stretches it, for a perfectly fitting garment – a clever accessory e.g. for sport and leisure clothing, lingerie, and home textiles.
