Great ideas for using the Simplicity Quick Press

  • Press sharp creases in a pair of trousers or jeans. Using full pressure allows you to press both pant legs at the same time
  • Press a shirt starting with the sleeves first followed by the body. Press the collar and cuffs last. Pull the shirt towards you as you press. Use the pressing cushion to shape contoured areas such as darts, gathers, and pockets
  • Press pleats in a skirt or window treatment
  • Press the front and back of a knit t-shirt. Using the press on knit fabrics enables you to press without stretching the fabric out of shape
  • Press a very sheer fabric. Lower the heat setting and use very little pressure. Fold fabric in half or in fourths to show how you can press several layers at one time
  • Press lace, ribbons and other trims. Spray lace with starch and cover with a press cloth before pressing. Heirloom sewers will love this!
  • Apply fusible interfacings to fabrics
  • Apply fusible, tear-away stabilizers to fabric. Press machine embroidered articles by placing fabric rightside down on the padded board
  • Apply photo transfers to fabric, refer to directions included with transfer paper. REMEMBER THAT THE PRESS AUTO SHUT OFF EVERY 10 SECONDS REQUIRES THAT YOU LIFT THE PRESS HANDLE AND PUT IT BACK DOWN EVERY 10 SECONDS FOR SAFETY REASONS. Many of the transfer papers require an extremely hot,dry iron and lots of pressure, making the press a perfect tool for this application
  • Press quilt blocks by first opening the seams with your conventional iron. Press with full pressure on the quik press
  • Apply fusible batting to fabric using half-pressure
  • Press velvet and other napped fabrics by placing them with the napped side up, cover with a dampened press cloth and press with half pressure
  • Emboss velvet, wool and fleece fabrics using stamps with wooden or plastic bases. Place the stamp on the padded board with the design facing up. Lightly mist the wrong side of the fabric. Place the napped side of the fabric on top of the stamp. Press 2 or 3 times with full pressure
  • Apply fusible patches, appliques, and crystals by pressing with full pressure. Place a Teflon pressing sheet over crystals
  • Temporarily place zippers before sewing by applying fusible tape to the right side of the zipper. Place rightside of the zipper along the opened seam and press with full pressure
  • From the time you turn it on, it takes the Simplicity quik press approximately 3 minutes to heat to 410F degrees, the highest setting. The variable temperature controls include settings for nylon, silk, wool, cotton and linen
