There are three sewing speeds with a maximum of 1000 Stitches per minute.

Extra Large Sewing Area

One of the largest sewing bed areas for sewing large projects. (210mm x 108mm).

Automatic Presser Foot Lifter

Raise and lower the presser foot automtically.

3 Presser Foot Height Adjustment

The presser foot height is electronically adjusted for fabric thickness. The heights are 10mm, 7.5mm, and 3.2mm.

Presser Foot Pressure

Presser foot pressure is adjusted electronically within the machine. Pressure can be set from 1 to 4.

Feed Dog lever on Embroidery Unit

A feed dog lever is on the front of the embroidery unit to raise and lower the feed dogs. This feature is for sewing with the embroidery unit attached.

Automatic Bobbin Winder

The bobbin begins winding as soon as the bobbin holder is pushed into position. It stops automatically when full. The bobbin winder has it's own motor, so you can sew and wind a bobbin at the same time!

Larger bobbin capacity

The SA156 bobbin holds more thread. Less time is spent changing and winding bobbins. That means more time sewing.

Low Bobbin Indicator

The machine stops and a low bobbin warning comes on when there is about one yard of thread left on the bobbin.

Upper & Lower Thread Sensors

There are thread sensors for the bobbin and upper thread to let you know when the thread runs out.

Memory in Sewing Mode

5 sets of memory settings are available for each individual utility and decorative stitch.

Presser Foot/Needle Exchange Key

This key locks all key and button functions to prevent operation of the machine while changing the needle or presser foot. Pressing the key again unlocks the screen and machine to continue sewing.

Saved Settings

When a stitch is selected the last settings retrieved are displayed. The last settings retrieved are retained even if the machine is turned off or a different stitch was selected.

Retrieve

When a utility or decorative stitch is selected retrieve will display the custom settings that have been saved.

Straight Stitch Plate Included

The needle automatically moves to the center needle position When the straight stitch plate is on the machine.

Eyelet Stitch

The eyelet stitch can be adjusted.

15 Buttonholes

There are 15 buttonholes plus a new manual 4-step buttonhole for oversized buttons.

Processing Speed

The machine's computer processing speed is faster than previous models.

My Custom Stitch

• New My Custom Stitch functions: zoom, color, save custom stitches to USB media or computer
• My Custom Stitches can be combined with built-in Character / Decorative stitches
• The machine reads and saves .pmi file format (My Custom Stitch)

Sewing Type Selection Key

When the sewing type selection key is chosen, the stitch advisor will automatically set machine width and length for appropriate stitch function.

Bobbin Adaptor Pin

A bobbin case adaptor pin is included with the machine for different size and shape disposable bobbins.

Extra Bobbin Case

An extra bobbin case is included with the machine for use with various types of bobbin thread other than Brother bobbin thread.

New Foot Controller

The new foot controller is larger and now has a retractable cord.

Needle Plate Screw Hole
