Janome Memory Craft 500E Limited Edition Embroidery Machine

I've only used it a few times, just to learn the machine. So far it performs well and is easy to operate.

It is just right

Because I have a sewing machine that I'm very happy with I didn't need to buy a combo machine. Embroidery Only is what I wanted and this machine is that. I have done embroidery designs on cotton fabric and everything came out perfectly. The 500e is so solid and the stitches/tension are consistently accurate. A great feature is the machine comes with 2 bobbin cases. One is for bobbins wound with Janome brand bobbin thread and the other one is for other brands. I use prewound bobbins that are not Janome brand so I use the other bobbin case. It does make a difference!
There is a color screen that shows me where I am in the design. It is not huge but it is all I need. It is very easy to use and it is easy to do repairs on a design if the thread breaks. I always know exactly where I am in the stitch count.
The manual is great, easy to find the information I'm looking for. I was able to use the on-board editing capabilities with the aid of the manual. I'm sure once I use them more I'll get them memorized.
The 500e came with several hoops so I didn’t have to buy any hoops. I used the 8"x11" hoop and the designs stitch out beautifully. The smallest hoop that came with the machine is a 5 by 5.

Embroiders beautifully on a variety of materials such as faux leather. It is heavy duty enough to make in the hoop bags and accessories with the faux leather as well. I chose this one since the maximum hoop size is 8×11 and there is an option to purchase a hat hoop to go with this single needle machine as well. It definitely requires less babysitting than my other machine but the bobbin, threads, and needle work on both my machines even though they are different brands. I also love the editing featured on the large touch screen particularly since my laptop is on the fritz.
