I am a beginner graduating from a DDL-555 into my first waking foot machine. This machine runs quieter now after sewing a few hours. I like how high the presser foot raises with the knee lift. The waking foot is what I needed all this time. This machine seems intimidating wth how it is threaded and the cost of it, but it isn't too bad.
The things I do not like were no actual instructions came with the machine any the sewing machine itself. I upgraded to the needle positioner and upgraded motor, ac the translation needs help. In order to turn the positioner on, you'll need to turn the settings off. No one there knew that. The other thing I do not like is there are multiple points that need constant oiling. I went from a machine that oiled itself to one needing daily lubrication. You'll have to remove the knee lift arm every time to rotate the machine. The servo motor instructive suck, advertised there is NO online support at all to help figure it out. You should move the reverse bar down to change stitch lengths. The LED light that comes with it is less bright than my wife's candles. Oil sometimes collects outside of the machine, so a daily wipe down should be done.
What I enjoy about the machine is that it is a total beast about sewing multiple layers of vinyl where my old machine would bunch up material and break needles getting it out of time. I figured out how to set the motor speed as it was super fast out of the box. Any setting you change, you'll need to press the return button. I can stitch single stitches at a time by a simple tap on the foot control. You can install the order lamps on the back of the machine. The bobbin threader is in the front so you can see it as you're sewing to monitor. The larger Bobbins help sew longer between changing. The bobbin thread is pulled easier by rotating the have wheel. My old machine, I had to use a scrap of material. It has a safety that I haven't had to use yet.
Overall I am pleased with its performance and purchase. Gary was very helpful.
