The Little Foot was designed by a quilter for quilters as an aid to obtain consistent 1/4" seam allowance.
The right edge is 1/4" from the center needle position, which gives you an exact 1/4" seam allowance. The left edge is a scant 3/8" from the center needle position. This gives a better tension control, as it will cover more feed dogs on most machines. Little Foot is notched 1/4" in front of and behind needle center as a reference for starting, stopping and pivoting.
The machine must be in the straight stitch, center needle position. As with any straight stitch foot, the needle may break if left in the zigzag position.
Note: On New Home sewing machines, the spindle ring must be on the right side when you snap on the Little Foot. On the Baby Lock Esante, the spindle ring must be on the left side.
